Otherwise, Jan focuses on two general areas. Streaming pre-production teaches students how to optimize production parameters like set design, lighting and camera configuration for streaming and editing workflows, including color correction and audio cleanup in Final Cut Studio and Adobe Creative Suite 4. Click here for a short syllabus of available courses.

Streaming encoding focuses on producing H.264 files for QuickTime, Flash and Silverlight, VP6 production for Flash and WMV/VC-1 production for Windows Media/Silverlight. Encoding tools that can be incorporated into the training include Adobe Media Encoder, Apple Compressor, Microsoft Expression Encoder, On2 VP6, Rhozet Carbon Coder, Sorenson Squeeze and Telestream Episode Pro and Episode Engine. Students learn which encoder produces the best quality file for each format and which to avoid, and the optimal settings for all encoders.
