Two new Amazon reviews for my book, Video Compression for Flash, Apple Devices and HTML5, both 5 star, though the UK review was kind of … mixed, shall we say.
In the States, John Talbert was pretty positive, stating “This book is very technical and detailed. It is the perfect tool to help you decipher all the techno jargon found in the field of video compression. Now I feel much more competent setting up all the parameters in my Video Compression software and I’m getting better and more predictable results.”

In the UK, Drumhum started out positively, saying “You’ll know if the subject of this book appeals to you and if it does, you won’t regret buying it. I’m sure it will go out of date pretty quick but at the moment its essential reading for anyone encoding video for the web.”
Then he channels his inner Simon Cowell and comments “There’s one or two printing errors and all the pictures are in shabby black and white. The front cover shows there’s hardly been much attempt to make this book pretty.” Hey, he should have seen the cover I designed, which was a disaster. Note that because the screenshots aren’t great, you can download a PDF of all image in full color here (as noted in the Acknowledgements).
Then Drumhum rights ship and continues, “But all that doesn’t matter – Its easy to read and it’s packed with essential tips, encoding settings and good suggestions. All the info in this book is probably on the web somewhere but its great to have it all in a book. It gets you away from that computer screen for change!”
All joking aside, I appreciate both reviewers taking the time to share their comments. I write for my readers and it’s great to see that they see value in the work.
